About

I’ve had a keen interest in games since I was a kid, which was many, many years ago.  In the summers and holidays when my extended family would get together, my siblings and cousins would play games almost non-stop.  I have fond memories of those times.

In high school, I discovered a game called Panzerblitz and it blew my mind.  This was the kind of game I had been looking for every since I had bought Battleship.  I had one cousin that would play the game with me and we had many hours of tank, infantry, and artillery combat.

As the years went by, I finished college, got married, went to graduate school, etc., etc., and the years passed by.  During those years, I played a few games with my kids, but with the exception of Magic: The Gathering, no game held our interest for long.  My primary focus in gaming was primarily video games and I just dabbled in that.

Around 2010, I discovered board games again and shortly after went to my first board game meetup through Meetup.com.  I was instantly hooked, have never looked back, and have attended several conventions since, including the granddaddy, GenCon.

Although I like any kind of board game, including party games (well, except Cards Against Humanity, which is barely a game), my favorite types of games are definitely anything dealing with some form of strategy and/or tactics.  As long as the game requires planning in those areas, I really don’t care if it’s a euro game or war game – I play them all.

This blog is about the games I play, my love for board games, and the experiences I have along the way.  In the next several years, some exciting changes will be happening in my board game playing life and this blog will be documenting that journey for my and your enjoyment.
